The Sound Suppression System shall blast water on the plasma jet produced by the engine during the burn, in order to diminish the outgoing noise.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_02 | Attachment of the system
The system shall be fixed to the floor in front of the test bench.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_03 | Jet stream
the design shall ensure the jet stream passes through the system.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_04 | Nozzle positioning
All nozzles shall be positioned at equal distance from the center of the jet stream.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_05 | Modular nozzle integration
The integration of pressure nozzles to the system shall be modular, allowing compatibility with different nozzle types to facilitate maintenance and flexibility.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_06 | Modular plumbing
The integration to the system of any part holding water shall be modular, allowing a new plumbing part to be integrated for a 50kN engine.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_07 | Manufacturing
The system shall be design so as to be manufactured by students with tools available at the DLL, the SKIL, or the MakerSpace.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_08 | Attachment of the system
The system shall be attached to the floor in front of the test bench.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_09 | Jet stream
The design shall ensure the jet stream passes through the system.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_10 | Water usage
The water usage of the sound suppression system shall be computed.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_11 | Water pump
A commercial water pump fitting the needs in terms of water pressure and mass flow rate shall be found.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_12 | Electrical consumption
The electrical needs of the system shall be found.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_13 | Electrical supply
An appropriate electrical supply can be researched, knowing that the TF cannot provide more than 16Amps at 230V
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_14 | Water to fuel ratio
The massflowratio between the system’s water and the engine’s gas flow rates shall be between 0.5 and 5.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_15 |Structure
The sound suppression system structure shall be designed for a 50kN engine.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_16 | Plumbing
The plumbing and pumps shall be designed for a 15kN engine.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_17 | Injectors
The injectors shall be designed for engines of 1, 5 and 15kN of thrust.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_18 | Distance to jet stream
The distance from the side of the jet stream to the sound suppression system’s closest point shall be at a minimum of 5cm.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_19 | Engine jet stream
The diameter of the 50kN, spaceshot jet stream will be of 30cm.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_20 | Budgets
The sound suppression system shall cost less than 500CHF, excluding the electrical components and the pump.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_22 | Weight
The total weight of the system shall be of less than 50kg, so as to be liftable by two operators.
2024_H_TF_SS_REQ_23 | Operations
The sound suppression system shall be operable by operators from the control station.
